The term Ethics is derived from the Greek phrase ‘ethos’ which refers to character. Furthermore, a program perceived as designed primarily to guard senior managers is clearly dangerous and is associated with increased violations of its established requirements and procedures.6 Analysis and experience over the previous 15 years suggest that a primary finest practice is to design a business ethics program that goes beyond mere compliance.

Over the previous two decades, emerging world standards from quite a lot of business associations, stakeholder groups, and worldwide institutions have been addressing the issues of responsible business conduct: ethics, compliance, and social accountability.

In the West, after the autumn of Rome, Christianity held sway, and though there were various discussions of poverty and wealth, ownership and property, there is no systematic dialogue of business besides in the context of justice and honesty in buying and selling.

Thomas Donaldson’s The Ethics of Business Ethics (New York: Oxford College Press, 1989) was the primary systematic remedy of worldwide business ethics, adopted by Richard De George’s Competing with Integrity in Internal Business (New York: Oxford College Press, 1993).

At the individual stage, this separation creates a definite moral model – business ethics – which, relying on components like character, peer pressure and the socio-political setting, might be nearer or further away from the people own ethical/moral code of conduct.
